Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What kind of space is needed for delivery of a container?

A. The container swings off either side of the truck, therefore we need at least 20 ft of width         clearance and 16 ft height clearance where the unit is to be placed.  Power lines and any         other obstacles can affect where the container can be set.

Q. Do I need to prepare the site for the delivery?

A. The site should be fairly level and firm and there should be a minimum of 8 ft width and 20     ft length for the container.  We can place your container on gravel, cement, pavement or the     grass.

Q. How long can I keep the container?

A. There is a one-month minimum rental period.

Q. How much notice is needed for delivery of a container?

A. We require a minimum 3 - 5 day notice for both delivery and pickup of your container.

Q. What are the containers made of?

A. The containers are constructed out of 30 T. Corten steel, which is one of the strongest             types  available.

Q. Are the containers waterproof?

A. Yes, the containers are wind and watertight.  They also have addtional ventilation.  2 vents         are on each side of the container, whereas most containers have 1 vent on each side.

Q. How secure is my lock on the container?

A. Our containers are built with security in mind.  A steel lock box conceals the lock                         and protects your belongings from theft and vandalism.

Q. Is there anything inside the container to keep my belongings from shifting?

A . There are tie down hooks on both sides top and bottom on the inside of the container               to secure your belongings during transit.

Q. Are my belongings insured when they are stored in the containers?

A. You are responsible for insuring your belongings.  Check with your homeowners policy.

Q. Is there anything that I cannot pack in the container?

A. Basically, any hazardous, illegal, explosive or flammable materials.  Propane tanks should      not be placed in the containers.  Gasoline and oil should be drained from any equipment          placed in the container.

 TIPS:

Disassemble furniture for easier storage and moving. Remove legs from tables when possible, and tape hardware to the underside of the table so you don't misplace it.

Maximize your space when packing the container. Place boxes strategically in the container to prevent heavy items from faling on them. The more that is packed in boxes, the easier to fit in the container. We do recommend distributing the weight as evenly as possible when loading the container.

Wedge appliance doors open. Freezer, refrigerator, washer and dryer cartons are excellent for packing bedding, towels, and clothing. Always clean your stove before storing.

Pack books flat to protect their spines. Do not place boxes directly on floor. Books are heavy in bunches, pack in smaller cartons for easy lifting. Line all book cartons with plastic. (Garbage bags make good liners.)
Store mirrors, windows and screens on edge, not flat. Crate them in a mirror pack if possible or package them individually with strong cardboard. Mark them so they won’t accidentally be bumped.
Take time when packing dishes and glasses. Place a layer of packing paper inside the bottom and top of cartons. Plates and glasses should be wrapped individually. It’s best to stack plates on edge rather than flat.
Wipe the surface of bicycles, tools and other metal items with a slightly oily rag to prevent rusting.
Save original holiday decoration cartons which contained delicate ornaments. Pad the ornaments with packing paper or newspaper.
Protect furniture and mattresses with specially designed plastic covers. Place a pallet, cardboard mat or plastic sheet on the floor and stand sofas and mattresses on end.Use blankets to protect furniture.

Store records on edge. They are quite heavy, so be sure you don’t pack to many in one box.
